What I’m looking forward to in 2019
|From our Founder and CEO, Angela Derks|
Like most of you, things move pretty fast with us at The Australasian Sustainable Wellness Academy, so sometimes it’s not really until you make time to sit down and reflect that you realise quite how massive 2018 was. Through our nationally recognised courses and blended training and mentoring programs, we delivered wellness integration skills to over 70 countries, collaborated with more than 25 employers and industry experts to keep our courses at the leading edge through our online learning platform. We contributed to the raising of over $382,000 for a number of not-for-profits and community organisations that focus on health and wellbeing, education, women and leadership. We can’t put an exact number on how many individuals and organisations have been positively impacted through the ASWA wellness community, but we do know that positive daily routines and supportive work practices were implemented and evaluated and teams and organisations were strengthened through taking control of their wellbeing. With the development and use of their communication, mindful management, resilience and emotional intelligence skills, leadership, careers and businesses were boosted and business sustainability forged, friendships and workplace wellbeing support circles were made, mentors were found, mentees rose to heights of management and leadership they never knew were possible, new opportunities were uncovered, and positive impact partnerships were formed.
Reflections and intentions
When I look back on the year, all my favourite parts involve the unleashing of purpose and passion that cultivates effective cultures, systems and relationships to enable and empower individuals, teams and organisations to live and lead at their best.
This year, I’m looking forward to seeing more of the power of wellness education and integration; particularly from our accredited Diploma of Wellness and Spa Management courses, employee wellness program, in-house group training programs, and our inaugural Knowledge and Wellness Tour for our Wellness Leaders to Thailand.
Creating a space for you to be inspired, educated and enabled to integrate wellness principles into your life and workplace, is what fills us up. Thank you for being part of this community and for giving it your all. And to our business and community partners for backing and believing in wellness. We couldn’t do this without you.
I hope you got a little down time over the festive break and surrounded yourself with all the things that serve you to thrive and flourish. This time of year can be a hard one for many too, so be gentle to yourself – and to each other. I look forward to kicking more of your personal and organisational wellness goals with you in 2019.
Wellness is within everyone’s reach!
